What is an Epoxy Resin Table?

The epoxy resin table is a combination of epoxy resin and solid wood. The shape of the epoxy table often follows the natural live edge of the tree. The resin is poured into the cracks and holes in wood and between the solid wood planks. Therefore, it often resembles a flowing river. That is why these tables are also called Epoxy River Tables.

How do we build such a piece of furniture? The following steps are required:

1. Preparing the wood. It is important that the wood is dry and clean. The wood is cut in the necessary shape, bark has to be removed. Then the wood has to be sanded thoroughly. All cracks and uneven areas are filled with epoxy resin.
2. Making the epoxy table mold into which the epoxy resin will be poured. For this mold it is important that it is tight and that the tabletop can be easily removed from the mold later. After the mold is ready, the wood has to be inserted and fixed well.
3. Pouring epoxy resin. Epoxy resin and hardener are first carefully mixed together and then the mixture is colored. Finally, the resin can be slowly poured into the mold in several layers.
4. Removing the mold. After the epoxy resin has dried, the table top is removed from the mold and polished.
5. Surface treatment. The table top is sanded, polished and treated with hard wax oil. It protects the wood from moisture and dirt and gives it a natural touch.
6. Attaching the table legs. Finally, the legs can be attached to the table. These can be made of wood or metal, as desired.
